Inspectors from various EU member states participated in the inspections, using a standardized checklist to evaluate landfill operations.

The project resulted in a draft guidance document and checklist for landfill inspections, intended to promote consistent application of the Landfill Directive across EU member states. Key activities included: Information exchange through an online platform (Basecamp), A questionnaire to assess knowledge gaps and inspection needs across member states, A workshop in Sardinia to discuss inspection practices, challenges, and potential tools. Smernice vsebujejo podrobne informacije o Direktivi o odlagališčih in povezanih sklepih Sveta ter opisujejo najboljše prakse za različne vidike upravljanja odlagališč, kot so merila za sprejem odpadkov, stabilni nereaktivni odpadki, ravnanje z azbestom, nadzor bioplina in varstvo podtalnice.poleg tega knjiga podrobno opisuje organizacijo in pripravo inšpekcijskih pregledov, vključno s študijami dokumentacije in postopki na kraju samem, ter obravnava ključne elemente, kot so finančna jamstva, samonadzor upravljavca odlagališča in zahteve za poročanje, kar vse prispeva k bolj doslednemu in učinkovitemu regulativnemu režimu za odlagališča.

Inventarna analiza upravljanja odlagališč po Evropi

V poročilu so preučene nedoslednosti pri izvajanju Direktive o odlagališčih odpadkov. Osredotoča se na kritična področja, kot so postopki sprejemanja odpadkov, načrti vzorčenja, zahteve glede predhodne obdelave in protokoli spremljanja, ter razkriva različne nacionalne pristope, ki lahko privedejo do neenakega izvrševanja in varstva okolja. V poročilu so predlagana priporočila Evropski komisiji in državam članicam za odpravo ugotovljenih pomanjkljivosti in spodbujanje usklajenih praks ravnanja z odlagališči po vsej EU.

Sporočilo vključuje analizo različnih pristopov za oceno potrebe po obdelavi pred odlaganjem, analizo meril in tehnologij za obdelavo odpadkov,  navodila za izdajo dovoljenj za mešanje odpadkov - ugotovitve o skupni metodologiji za oceno ANC pri obravnavi stabilnih nereaktivnih odpadkov, predloge za ustrezno inšpekcijo za oceno skladnosti obdelave tako trdnih kot industrijskih odpadkov.
