Landfill project (2013)

Inspectors from various EU member states participated in the inspections, using a standardized checklist to evaluate landfill operations.
Landfill project (2011-2012)

Vejledningen giver detaljerede oplysninger om deponeringsdirektivet og relaterede rådsbeslutninger og skitserer bedste praksis for forskellige aspekter af deponeringsforvaltning, såsom kriterier for affaldsaccept, stabilt ikke-reaktivt affald, asbesthåndtering, biogaskontrol og grundvandsbeskyttelse.desuden beskriver bogen organiseringen og forberedelsen af inspektioner, herunder skrivebordsstudier og procedurer på stedet, og behandler vigtige elementer som finansielle garantier, deponeringsanlægsoperatørens egenkontrol og rapporteringskrav, som alle bidrager til en mere konsekvent og effektiv reguleringsordning for deponeringsanlæg.

Rapporten undersøger uoverensstemmelserne i implementeringen af deponeringsdirektivet. Den fokuserer på kritiske områder som procedurer for modtagelse af affald, prøveudtagningsplaner, krav til forbehandling og overvågningsprotokoller og afslører forskellige nationale tilgange, der kan føre til uensartet håndhævelse og miljøbeskyttelse. Rapporten indeholder anbefalinger til Europa-Kommissionen og medlemsstaterne om at afhjælpe de identificerede mangler og fremme en harmoniseret praksis for håndtering af deponeringsanlæg i hele EU.

Rapporten indeholder en analyse af de forskellige tilgange til at vurdere behovet for behandling før deponering, en analyse af kriterier og teknologier til affaldsbehandling,  tilladelsesinstruktioner til blanding af affaldet - observationer om en fælles metode til at evaluere ANC, når det drejer sig om stabilt ikke-reaktivt affald, forslag til en ordentlig inspektion for at vurdere overholdelse af behandling af både MSW og industriaffald.
