Waste Sites-I/ 2012
This report documents the second phase of the IMPEL "Waste Sites" project, which aimed to curb illegal waste exports from the EU by targeting upstream storage and treatment facilities. The project focused on promoting cooperation between authorities, applying the Waste Sites Manual developed in the first phase, and adopting a "waste stream approach." Joint inspections were conducted in several countries, revealing both best practices and legislative and enforcement gaps. An expert workshop was held to discuss challenges and share best practices. The project also involved translating the Waste Sites Manual into Slovenian and German.
