Through joint inspections and exchange programs, the project sought to achieve a more adequate level of inspections across EU member states and improve international collaboration and knowledge sharing on waste shipment regulations. The project included 25 EU Member States and 7 other European countries, with 29 countries conducting inspections. Over 26,000 transports were inspected, and over 800 violations were identified. The IMPEL-TFS Enforcement Actions I Project, conducted from September 2006 to June 2008, focused on improving the enforcement of the European Waste Shipment Regulation.
