Water Pollution

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies like lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, reservoirs and groundwater. Water is polluted when it contains high levels of harmful substances. These substances include toxic chemicals and microorganisms and are often invisible. The most common sources of water pollution are from agriculture, urban areas and wastewater, industrial discharges, as well as plastic and other litter.(EU, WP)
