Project Descripion
Wolf populations have spread all over Europe because of the growth of the population. Countries that have not had wolves for decades or more have lost all experience on dealing with wolves and with wolf related wildlife crime.
There is a lack of experts in the field of wolf related wildlife crime in the counties that just yet have a wolf population within their country. In countries that have had a wolf population have learned to live with the presence of wolves and have experience with investigations of wolf related wildlife crime. This project aims to spread that knowledge to other countries with little experience.
Desired outcomes of the project are increased capacity, exchange of information and improved international collaboration in the field of wolf related wildlife crime.

The Conference Report on Wolves in Europe/2025
This report documents a mini-conference organized by IMPEL under the project "Where have the wolves gone" to address the challenges of wolf conservation in the European Union, particularly the issue of wolf-related wildlife crime. The conference brought together experts to discuss wolf population dynamics, ecological importance, socio-economic implications, and strategies for inspecting wildlife crimes against wolves, aiming to foster dialogue and share best practices.
