The main purpose of this guidance is to provide support and guidance information on how best to ensure the consideration of environmental and nature impacts in inspection of quarries and open cast mining located in or near to Natura 2000 sites. The document is intended to be used by competent authorities, primarily inspectors, but can also be of interest to permit writers, nature protection agencies, sites managers, consultants, enforcement, experts and other practitioners involved in the planning, design, implementation or approval of quarries and open cast mining plans or projects, as well as other interested parties such as local communities, non-governmental organisations and international bodies.
