We are pleased to announce the Water & Land Remediation Conference, taking place on December 11, 2024, in Copenhagen, Denmark, hosted by Danish Regions. This conference will bring together the Water and Land Remediation group to discuss project results and future directions.
Conference Sessions
- Session 1: The IMPEL Report on In Situ Thermal Desorption
- Session 2: The IMPEL Report on Phytoremediation
- Session 3: Preparation of the Report on Biopile
- Session 4: Preparation of the Report on In Situ Chemical Reduction (ISCR)
- Sessions 5 & 6: Soil Health and Ecosystem Services under SML
About the Water & Land Remediation Project
Initiated in 2020, the Water & Land Remediation project aims to develop comprehensive guidance documents for implementing in-situ remediation technologies and establishing long-term monitoring schemes. The project seeks to provide valuable references for Member States that lack effective monitoring procedures and to standardize remediation processes across borders. By promoting these sustainable practices, we aim to reduce reliance on more environmentally impactful methods, such as Dig & Dump and Pump & Treat.
To date, the project has successfully produced or is developing guidance documents for a variety of remediation technologies, including:
- In Situ Chemical Oxidation (2021)
- Soil Vapour Extraction (2021)
- Multi-Phase Extraction (2022)
- Soil Washing (2023)
- Thermal Desorption (coming soon)
- Phytoremediation (coming soon)
- Biopile (under preparation)
- In Situ Chemical Reduction (under preparation)
Looking ahead, plans are in place for an additional six guidance documents in the 2025-2027 cycle, further expanding the resources available to Member States.
