From March 26 to 28, 2025, the IMPEL Board conducted country visits to Finland, Estonia, and Latvia to strengthen cooperation, recognize outstanding participation, and support engagement in IMPEL projects. The IMPEL Delegation met with national ministries to discuss critical environmental challenges including waste management, air and water quality, microplastics, nature protection, and cross-cutting issues like AI use in inspections. In Finland, topics ranged from microplastics and fungi legislation to the need for open dialogue on invasive species. Estonia showcased progressive efforts in nature conservation, biogas regulation, and mining site restoration. Latvia emphasized training needs for inspectors and discussed illegal water drilling and soil health. Across all three countries, the IMPEL team highlighted collaborative tools, proposed joint inspections, and encouraged wider participation in upcoming IMPEL projects and conferences, reinforcing a unified European approach to environmental compliance and enforcement.
